Today June 10th I had the opportunity to visit Sycamore Elementary school. Visiting this school is very important to me because not only did I go there so did my brother, my sisters, my mom, my aunt, my uncle and two of my cousins.
My grandma came with me today to take pictures.. she actually was one of the first people on the PTA when this school first opened and my mom was in the first class of kids to go from K-6! So our family definitely has some good memories at this school!
I was able to visit the two kindergarten classrooms and answer all kinds of questions as well as read them a story about Mothers and Fathers in honor of Fathers Day coming up!
Answering questions... I must have answered 50 different questions from... How I won to who made my sash! haha
Reading to them.. their expressions were so cute!
Both kindergarten classes together!!
Next I visited a 2nd grade classroom where we talked about being positive and being the best possible version of yourself! We read stories that talked about confidence and how you need to embrace your body, personality and have a positive outlook on life! The kids asked me about my title and I explained to them the process of the pageant and what one must do to enter and win. We spoke about how having self confidence is a must, keeping good grades is VERY important and also how spending time volunteering in the community can be so rewarding!
After all of the classroom visits it was time for field day!! They had all kinds of activities set up like tire rolls, bounce house type obstacle course, hula hoops and even water games.
Getting soaked by the water sponges!!
All of these kids plus about 100 more had me sign their year books, notebook paper, lunch boxes etc... they were so excited!!!
Tire Rolling competitions... Cole's team won (Far right)
Cole and I.....he was my neighbor for about 10 years :)
Thank you to Mrs. McManigal and all of the teachers at Sycamore for allowing me to read in the classrooms, visit with the kids and participate at field day!!!
"Favorite Quotes"
"So if you are like a Queen does that mean you are like in charge of the President??"
" The banner says Miss Twin Counties....why didn't your twin come with you???....does she have a crown too??"
"Do you have to sleep with the crown on? Does it even come off?"
" So I don't have a year book but I have a marker...can you sign my arm?"
"Are you better than Miss America...because I have seen pictures and your crown is bigger than hers"
"Are those real diamonds????"
Before the kids came into the classroom from recess a group of little boys were peeking in the classroom where I was... one says, " I don't think she wants us seeing her until its time for us to...we should look away..."
