Flame of Hope - Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics

Today June 6th I participated in the North Leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics with my dad's department; Ventura County Sheriff's Office. We were handed the torch from the Navel Base Academy Group at Pt. Mugu Rock and it was our honor to run with the torch to the Ventura/LA county line and hand the torch over to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.

I had the honor of leading the group of Special Olympic participants, the Ventura County Criminal Justice Training Center Class #2013-1, additional members of the Sheriff's Office and Ventura County Probation Department as I carried the torch!!

After a mile I gracefully bowed out and let the real runners take over....

A special thank you to Tim Lohman of the Ventura County Sheriff's Office for allowing me to participate in such an amazing event.  The route included spectators and even campers who applauded as the group ran by with the torch to voice their support for the Special Olympics.

Thank you to Peggy with the Special Olympics Organization!!
